Operation
SWIFT
Courageous
Hero
Pfc. Wright
was one of my heroes on the 4th of Sept, 1967 and the reason so
many survived that battle. I had been with M Co. 3/5 for most of
the first 15 months in Vietnam, but the battle on 4 Sept. 1967 was
by far the most fierce battle I had experienced. Although I had
never been in another war, my readings of other Marine battles such
as Tarawa, Iwo Jima, etc. leads me to think ours was just as fierce.
Steven, like the others who gave their lives on the 4th, is a true
hero who saved us that day. We have honored those courageous Marines
and Sailors of M Co. who gave thier lives for us on 4 Sept. 1967
with a dedication in the Memorial Walkway at the Marine Corps Museum
that opened Nov. 10th, 2006. Steven is with each of us who fought
that day. Semper Fi~ JD Murray
